The 120 hectares of sugar cane plantations and Martinique produce the best cane, which gives the rums a rich flavour with a unique character.

White and dark rums have been produced there since the 18th century, but the history of Trois Rivières dates back to 1660. Its name derives from the three rivers (Bois d'Inde, Oman and Saint Pierre) that surround the plantation. Initially, the plantation specialised exclusively in sugar production, but in 1785 the plantation was bought by a wealthy nobleman from the north of the island, Etienne Isaïe Marraud Des Grottes, who boosted sugar production and opened a rum factory.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the land fell into the hands of Amédée Aubéry, who abandoned sugar production and concentrated exclusively on rum manufacturing. His son then goes even further, replacing molasses in the rum with sugarcane juice, creating the first Agricole rum, which would eventually become its exclusive production.

Between 1953 and 1972, Trois Rivières company was recognized under the Duquesne brand (also owned by Marraud des Grottes family). From 1980’s, Trois Rivières’s rums expand to France and then to the rest of Europe. To this day, Trois Rivières distillery is the only rum in the world that has obtained the AOC label (Protected Designation of Origin).

In the 21st century, Trois Rivières is expanding its range: it is launching Agricole white rums with 40% A.B.V., one of the first single-zone rums (Cuvée de l'Océan), the first multiyear rum from Martinique (Triple Millésime), and Cask Strength Rum, which is bottled without dilution and then aged in new American oak barrels.

The old VSOP Réserve Spéciale rum reflects the know-how of the Trois Rivières distillery and is marked by balanced blending that gives the rum a unique character. More than five years in French oak barrels, the combination of sweet spices, dried fruit, almonds and walnuts leaves this cuvée with a touch of Trois Rivières territory and the tropical climate of Martinique. In 2018, this rum was named Rum of the year receiving the Outstanding Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).

Trois Rivières Cuvée de l'Océan is an elegant multiple-awarded and well-balanced 10-year-old-rum that is made exclusively from sugarcane juice grown on the banks of the sunny Anse Trabaud estate in the very south of Martinique. Aged in French and American oak barrels, it has a unique taste with surprising mineral, salty notes of seawater.

This triple rum is a blend of three vintage Agricole rums with years 1999, 2000 and 2010 corresponding to the time of their harvest and distillation. Cellar master Daniel Baudin (who was voted the world's best cellar master in 2019) was in charge of selecting the vintages in this blend creating a very smooth but full and complex taste. Subtle golden colour reflects a perfect balance of fruity and spicy flavours that are mellowed by the typical sugarcane juice. For its unique taste and quality of Martinique estate, Trois Rivieres Triple Millesime triple vintage blend has been winning awards and medals around the world.
