The Foursquare Patrimonio is a single blended rum from Barbados, matured for 14 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry barrels. It was distilled from fermented sugarcane molasses and bottled in 2019 by Velier, under the direction of Luca Gargano. This premium rum is a blend of two hand-selected casks, making it a limited edition with only 6,000 bottles available.
The Foursquare Patrimonio offers a complex, charming, and expressive aroma and taste, with a combination of fruity, sweet, and earthy notes derived from the two cask types. The rum was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels, with a portion later finished in ex-sherry casks. The final blend was assembled in early 2019 and bottled unfiltered at cask strength.
The aroma features powerful and intense wood tannins, complemented by the distillery's signature charming notes, including vanilla, coconut, and tobacco. With a bit of aeration, the rum reveals a deep and creamy vanilla, accompanied by rich coconut, grilled nuts, and a hint of cocoa. The palate unveils a rich and imposing Foursquare rum, with a grainy, ancient oak, and a subtle layer of solvent-like notes, providing a balanced sweetness that allows the fruit flavors to emerge, such as orange, cherry, and lemon.
Due to its rarity, with only 6,000 bottles available, only one bottle per order and customer is allowed. The secret to its finesse lies in the mastery of its assembly, combining rums aged to perfection in high-quality casks: a 14-year-old rum aged exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels and a 10-year-old rum aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 10 years, followed by 4 years in ex-sherry casks. The result is a velvety texture with a great gourmet balance between the vanilla notes of bourbon and the fruity notes of sherry. With its 100% tropical aging and high-alcohol bottling, the Foursquare Patrimonio is a new masterpiece.
This blend consists of single matured rums (ex-bourbon) and double matured rums (ex-bourbon and ex-sherry), matured for a total of 14 years. Each rum is a blend of the copper double retort pot still and the traditional twin column coffey still before barrel filling.
Only 6,000 bottles of this limited edition rum were produced.
The ABV of this rum is 58%.
